The upcoming race weekend at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps will be one of the busiest of the season for Brent Verheyen. From July 3 to 6, he will take part in two major endurance events: the third round of the Belcar Endurance Championship with Belgium Racing and the legendary 25 Hours VW Fun Cup with Coox Racing.
In the Belcar Endurance Championship, Verheyen once again teams up with Michael Cool behind the wheel of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (#98). The car has shown strong performance throughout the season, and after a promising but ultimately unlucky run during the previous race at Spa, the goal for this weekend is clear: gather as many points as possible for the championship. The team will take to the track on Friday, July 4 for free practice and qualifying, with the race scheduled for Saturday, July 5.
At the same time, Verheyen joins Petrolheads by Dupon Racing #472 for the 25 Hours VW Fun Cup. Europe’s longest endurance race, featuring over 100 identical cars on the grid. He will share the car with Colin Coox, Jarne Geussens and Pol Van Pollaert. While it is the first time this quartet races together as a team, there is already strong chemistry between the drivers. Colin, Jarne and Pol have shared a Fun Cup car before, and Brent brings additional experience and speed to the crew.
“Colin and I have already done quite a few Fun Cup races together, and we are good friends on and off the track,” said Verheyen. “I used to race karts with Jarne years ago, so it’s really fun to team up again for this one. With Pol as well, we’ve got a great line-up, and we’ll be giving it everything we have to fight for the top positions.”
While balancing two endurance races in the same weekend will be physically and mentally demanding, Verheyen is ready for the challenge. With a full schedule ahead, including Belcar sessions on Friday and Saturday and the non-stop 25-hour Fun Cup race from Saturday afternoon to Sunday, it promises to be a weekend full of action, strategy and focus.
